Kolhapur Mahalaxmi temple pooja:

Here 5 worship services are offere each day. The 1st is at 5 o'clock in the morning, and involves the awakening of the deity with a kakada-torch for the accompaniment of devotees. The 2nd worship service at 8 in the morning consists of organizing the Shodashopchar Puja consisting of 16 elements. The afternoon and evening services and the Shejarati Puja constitute 3 other services.

A festive statue of the deity is take out in procession around the temple courtyard on every Friday and full moon day.

4.00 a.m. Inauguration of the temple entrance.
4.00 a.m. to 4.30 a.mRinging of the bell
4.45 a.m.Inauguration of the main gate by the High Priests (Hakkadar Priests) for that day.
5.30 a.m.Padya Pooja (Washing feet of goddess Mahalaxmi idol with milk.)
5.45 a.m.Kakada Aarati of the Sri Mahalaxmi.
8.30 a.m.Ghantanad (ringing of bell) and bathing abhishek (bathing of the main idol. Goddess Mahalaxmi)
9.30 a.m.Aarti and conch trith
11.30 a.m.Ghantanad and Abhishek (milk bath of main idol) Goddess Mahalaxmi
12.30 to 1.00 p.m.Aarati and Shankh Tirth
1.30 to 2.30 p.m.Ornamentation worship. Salankruti
(That is, the Goddess is decorated with beautiful gold ornaments, saris and blouses) This puja is kept till 8.30 pm. in the evening
8.00 p.mRinging of the bell
8.15 p.m.Aarati
8.30 p.m. to 9.00 p.m.Simple worship is done by removing mantrapas and ornaments (gold ornaments).
